a few nights ago i laid liam in his crib after he had nursed and fell asleep so i could clean up our room and not wake him. i hadn't even planned on liam sleeping in his crib until he was 4 or 5 months old and solidly sleeping through the night but he looked so peaceful laying there that we almost kept him there. the only thing stopping me from letting him sleep in his own room that night was my fear of not being able to hear him cry over lance's snoring. it gets crazy loud sometimes. plus, the bassinet that liam's been in has a vibrate option and the instant he starts squirming we can hit that button and he's back to sleep in no time. unfortunately the crib doesn't have this sweet feature so we didn't know how it would all go down. we finally decided that if we had a monitor, we'd give it a try.
to our luck, i got a target add in the mail for a video monitor that was 20% off. hot dog! it's perks are:

this is the tightest gadget!! lance and i had so much fun the first night setting it up and seeing how much the camera can move. it can do a full circle and move up and down. pretty legit.
so that night we had our nightly routine of a bath, one last feeding and then rock together for a few minutes until his eyes get heavy. i put liam in his crib, shut the door and went to watch him on the monitor. I couldn't tell if i was ready for this or not. he is only 11 weeks old! he should still be tiny and need me not 17 pounds and grown up!
the first night he woke up at 2:00 and 4:30 to feed and when i laid him back down he went right back to sleep in his crib. around 5:45 he got fussy so i went a got him out and snuggled him for a bit and then put him in his bassinet until it was time to wake up for work. not bad for the first night in a big, open, non-vibrating bed.
the next night was even better! homeboy slept from 9:00-5:00!! i unfortunately still had to wake up and pump so i didn't get to sleep uninterrupted but it was still a good nights sleep. since then he's back to his regular 9:00-3:00ish then 3:00ish-7:00. i think he's handling the change really well.
an added bonus to this fun new toy is now we can see that whenever liam is in there and starts making noises, it's only a matter of seconds before we see orion's glowing eyes show up beside the crib trying to check on him. these two are going to be the best of friends.

We have a video monitor too! Haven't set it up yet. We need to do that because this just sounds too awesome. I am tired of getting up to check on her (in our front room!!! hahaha) when she's making noises. When we get back from Christmas break, we are definitely setting this up!
Did you just say Liam is 11 weeks old? he is almost 3 months already which means Ellie is too!!! ahhhh time is flying by toooo faaaaaast already!
Already in his crib!! He is growing up way too fast. What a little champ. And that video monitor is AWESOME. I'm sold.
wow....already in his crib and practically sleeping through the night? awesome!!
I want to get a video monitor for savannah so I know if she's upset and needs us or is just talking to her animals. I'm glad you linked the one you have because I'm always nervous about big purchases like that. I've also seen where you can use home security cameras and link them to your phone....not sure how well that works though.
He is such a big boy! Savannah is 20 months and weighs 23 lbs! He's going to catch up to her soon!
How cool! Gosh technology is so awesome these days. I love that Orion is right there to watch him. So cute!
