On Friday we went camping with Tommy Hudson and his wife Jessica and their lab puppy. The plan was to leave right after work and get to the campsite and set up camp. BUT things happen and we didn't get to the camp grounds until almost 9. Lance had to creep around the camp ground to find the camp ranger guy to let us in the gate since they closed the gates at 6. It was a shot in the dark, literally, to find this guy and hope he'd let us in.
Once we're inside, we set up our tents. Ours is on the left and that's Jessica in theirs.
We cooked up some deer burgers and sausages. Those were good. But the best part of the night was this creation. Smores with a twist. Instead of plain chocolate, we used a reese's cup. OH. MY. GOSH. I don't think I can have it any other way now.
We are old boring people so by 11:30 we were in our tents, snuggled up, and ready to sleep. It was about 40 degrees at night but it didn't feel that bad in the tent. Lance used a sleeping bag and I had a miracle blanket plus Orion as a heater. Cold was never a problem during the night. Our air mattress however, is a different story. We woke up at 5 in the morning laying on the ground. With a little help from the air pump we were back to sleep.
Sorry to make you turn your head but this picture is not cooperating.
After Tommy and I were able to wake our beauty queens we tried to cook up some eggs that we picked up at a gas station. When the first egg was cracked we knew gas station eggs were a bad idea. The egg white was fluorescent green. With all green eggs and ham jokes aside, it was disgusting. The green egg is on the left with a normal egg on the right.
packed up camp and headed into the woods.
We did a little fishing, a little small game hunting and lots of laughing at the dogs. My manly man husband has gotten into weapons lately. He got a blow gun and has been trying to get a kill since. He took out a .22 rifle and came back victorious. Don't worry, Thumper's still thumpin. He killed a water moccasin. He has the skin drying on our porch as proof.
Please note Lance's rippling biceps. Oh baby.
I had a lot of fun camping and hanging out with the Hudson's and letting Orion run loose in the woods but that shower and bed sure felt good when we got back.

I seriously cannot believe you went camping. Married life really has changed you :)
And not only does that picture of the reeses smore look DELISH, it also looks beautiful. Did you take that with your phone? If so, that is amazing. If not, it's still beautiful.
I wish I had a camera that could take pictures like that. I have to chalk up props to the internet. Turns out smores with reese's cups is a popular image in google.
